Pets in the Lives of Older Adults

More than half of older adults (55%) reported having a pet. Among pet owners, the majority (68%) had dogs.

The Village Rovers Dog Club has been soliciting testimonials from area Realtors regarding inquiries about a dog park prior to making a purchase.

Here are some responses:

“I think the Dog Park is a welcome addition to the SVE Community and I hope it continues to be a gathering place for the dogs and their owners.  When describing the community to prospective buyers, it is one of the amenities of the community that I try to point out.
I hope that the HOA Staff and Board Members realize that the Dog Park is a worthwhile and needed amenity to SVE.  It is not only great for the puppies but I know that many of the dog owners really enjoy the social aspect of the park which is definitely a plus to SVE.”  – Kent Norgard, HomeSmart

“Prospective buyers today come in expecting a dog park in a community. It is a box they tick.  Most places have them now, so it would definitely be a negative if we didn’t have one. A number of buyers we have worked with have complimented our SVE dog park! –  Dawn and Rich Milburn, Klaus Realty

As a community member and a Realtor, I believe the dog park is a wonderful feature within the community.

When I let prospective buyers know there is an actual dog park, they are excited to have a safe space for the sweet pets. It’s a place  where dog owners and their dogs come together. The dogs run and play while the dog owners visit and forge new friendships. New home owners can find their new circle of friends and so can their pets.
